|Rolling Stone Records is located just outside of Chicago, in the suburb of Norridge. It is one of Chicago's last big independent stores. The place sells lots of cds, some vinal, dvds, band shirts, music magazines and various other music trinkets, like hats and wristbands. They don't really havea huge selection of band hats and wristbands, but they are featured from time to time. They carry a decent selection of metal, like the major metal labels--Centruy Media, Nuclear Blast, Road Runner and the like, but probably won't have really underground stuff. For larger artists, like Maiden for example, you can sometimes find imports and bootlegged shows on cd and dvd. Prices are pretty decent. They also have a listening station where you can check out new releases. They sell rock shirts for bigger bands, like Slayer, Black Sabbath BLS, Ozzy ect.
From time to time, they hold instores where you can meet a band for a moment, get an autograph or take a picture. It seems like they use to hold more in the past, but bands like Ozzy, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth, Fear Factory and many others have used the place to promote new releases in the past. When they hold these, fans line in around the buidling and sometimes down the block if the draw is big enough. For larger instores, you may have to obtain a wristband ahead of time. Call the store for details.
They list regularly in the IE, Illinois Entertainer and have various sale coupons for some good deals from time to time. They also sell video games.
There is parking, but the store is in a pretty busy shopping area, so there can be traffic. It is very close (a few doors down) from Beyond the Limit, so if you make it out to one, be sure to check out the other.
