|The Bottom Lounge is a nice bar and venue on Lake Street in Chicago. They host a variety of rock, punk and metal shows. Up and coming bands that might not yet be big enought to sell out the House of Blues often play there. Bigger names, like Immortal and Amon Amarth have also played there, and sold the place out by the way.
The sound is pretty good to as I believe this bar was recently renovated within 10 years. They have a decent beer selection inside the concert area and serve good bar food at the restaurant/bar connected to it. Another positive about this place is that street partking isn't too difficult.
Parking can be a hastle and expensive in the city. I think the venue also has a small lot for patrons, but it is often filled by those attending early. It isn't right in the middle of downtown, so traffic isn't too bad by this area, either.
There is an ATM in case you need money for shirts, cds and the like being sold at shows. Tickets to this venue are often handled by smaller ticket companies, rather than Ticketmast-which is a good thing given all the extra TM fees. It's one of the better places to see a show in Chicago.
