Massive bar - Great staff

The Orto Bar is huge, encompassing at least 3 bars, a roof terrace and a courtyard located around a 25 minute walk from the main town square. I spent a couple of nights in here out of season in September. Fairly quiet on both a Thursday night and Friday night until later in the evenings.......After midnight on Friday Ljubljana's metal /rock crowd came out to play.... Good beer and drinks, really friendly staff and a good ambience... Wide range of music across all rock genres. I can imagine when bands are playing here and when the place is packed that this place seriously rocks! Friday night saw a rock disco on the second floor as the Slovenians took the oppurtunity to get drunk and mosh away! Definetly worth checking out as a alternative to the town centre bars and open late into the night / morning.

Orto Bar

We had a scorching Saturday night in the Orto bar before we headed off to Metalcamp 2007. The music policy appeared to be absolutely everwhere, and I mean that in a good kind of way. From Pantera,to Blink182 to Brian Setzer back to Metallica. So it became very difficult to predict what may be played next which kept you on your toes. The service was second to none, very friendly and totally without the 'you ain't from round these parts' type attitude you find in some metal bars and clubs. Although they got very uncomfortable with the idea of our group buying the staff around of drinks. We were in party mood and wated the world to have fun with us that night. It was against staff policy I understand and they stuck to it relgiously. The security guys (Who look as if they mean serious business) did with great tact and diplomacy remind me as I walked in that I had a can of beer in my pocket, which with hand on heart, I had quite genuinely forgotten about. They weren't thrilled with the idea of us taking our own beer in and kind of frowned upon that, but with respect I was in the wrong, and with a firm fairness guided me to the path of righteousness. ha ha In essence, it was a cool place, employing great people, with a friendly clientele playing music. from across the rock genres
