A venue to rival London!
The Nordwind is in a hidden corner of Bari. Go and find it – you'll be glad you did!
And if you're English, don't be put off by the name. The only cheese you'll find here is the fresh mozarella on your pizza! This is a top quality place with a reputation for staging seriously good rock and metal. It is a family-owned venue, managed with a great deal of care and pride. It caters for all ages and all genres of music.
The building is around 300 capacity. At the front is the excellent pizzeria, and behind it the bar, stage and dance floor areas. There is plenty of seating, a big screen and a DJ booth above the dance floor, making this a great place for all kinds of events.
On Thursday nights, The Nordwind becomes The Metal Place. Artists from all over the world have performed here. The idea is to support talent, no matter what the status of the artist, so you are just as likely to find a great unsigned band from the UK or a well-known guitar god from the USA.
Technically, the venue is fully-equipped with back line, PA and good stage lighting. The sound quality is spot on – a real achievement given the odd shape of the space.
You'll find this a friendly and welcoming place to visit. Turn up on your own if you're travelling through town. There will always be a couple of regulars to chat to at the bar.
As a music pro in London, I'm critical when it comes to live music. I can honestly say that the Nordwind beats many of the London venues that specialise in up-and-coming bands. It guarantees a better night's entertainment for the artists and customers: better hospitality, better beer, more comfortable surroundings, a gig you can properly see and hear(!), an all round hassle-free, relaxing and enjoyable time.
