This is about as metal as it'll get in Hong Kong - but Rock School makes up for that in the best way it can - with live music and a pure rock atmosphere.

A vintage Marshall backline behind the stage, complete with many real Gibson and Fender guitars covering every spot on the wall, makes this a fun place to hang out.

There are tv screens that play rock, metal, but also pop videos. As an example, one night I watched a Tina Turner show, but then a Steve Vai show, so it is quite varied. As are the nights - usually the bands are playing, but sometimes they have loud house/clubbing music.

The house band Jaded, perform at least 2 or 3 sets a night - first set is quieter stuff, later on it gets more rocky. They don't mind taking requests either, and even if you're suitably plastered will let you join in!

Sometimes the bar is packed - sometimes it isn't - it's easy enough to get talking to people in there though. Happy hour deals are either 2 for 1, or cheap drinks, depending on the night - but it gets more expensive after 11pm.

They serve bar food until late as well. It's usually free to get in, but sometimes you have to pay if there's a special night on (although that usually includes a free drink). The staff are friendly too, and the owner is a real nice guy.

The Wan Chai area, especially around the Phoenix Building is a little bit seedy tbh - but Rock School makes you forget all that - people are only really there to rock out and have fun!
