A nice and very atmospheric club. It's one of London's premier venues, hosting both live music and clubs. Sometimes they have Metal bands playing there. Check their website for upcoming events and tickets. Doors: 11pm - late. |

Went there on a tuesday, there was a concert that evening. The place is really nice, I like the way the bar and the concert-room are separated. You can sit in the bar-room and can easily talk to each other whilst there is the concert playing. would definitly go there again! :)

Went to an excellent festival there. Cheap drinks and cool people. Don't hide your drugs in your cigarette pack, the bouncers will find it!!! ;)

Just adding a current review to this to show it is still active and probably the best venue for international metal and rock acts in London. Have recently seen everything from Municipal Waste, Suffocation, Baroness, Skeletonwitch, Warbringer, Fleshgod Apocalypse to Nashville Pussy and Danko Jones here. Drinks are over priced compared to normal London pubs though! They seem to go up by 5p every few months.

I saw the Black Metal band 1349 play here earlier this month and thought it was a better venue than Astoria 2, which I also visited during the same week. It is also easy to get to, being directly across the street from the Camden Town tube stop.

The Underworld is my favourite venue in London. It's nice and small, with the stage area seperate from the bar/rest of the venue. In the last year or so I have seen bands such as cryptopsy, akercocke, onslaught, biomechanical, decapitated, carpathian forest, dream evil, korpiklaani, exodus, orange goblin, ramesses, sourvein, tankard, turisas, battlelore and vain play at the underworld. As you can see from this list, a wide variety of metal bands play there...and those were just the gigs that I could make it to! The only bad things about the venue are the drink prices (£3.20 for a pint on lager), although this is the same for most london venues, and the pillar that is situated right in the middle of the audience area! Just make sure you're not behind it! If you've not been to a gig at the underworld, you definately need to check it out.
