The Step Inn is handily located within a 2 minute walk of Fortitude Valley train station (look for "The Den" adult shop across the street if you get lost!).

Every Wednesday night is Inferno night, with free entry and free pool, opening at about 7pm. The line-up usually consists of 3-4 bands, of varying noteriety and skill, commonly selling basic merchandise such as CDs/EPs or shirts, with many bands simply handing out free copies.

Featuring a somewhat small bar that is nonetheless well-stocked, The Step Inn also has a side room filled with Pokies (poker/slot machines), a common sight in almost every Australian bar or Leagues club.

The stage at this venue is raised, and has recently been lengthened, allow some of the bigger 5-piece bands to actually get all band members on the stage, rather than sticking the keyboardist down in the audience. A high ceiling and wooden flooring allows the sound of the band to travel and breathe.

The Step Inn also has an upstairs area (unreviewed).
