Bogiez Rock Bar & Nightclub
Cardiff's "Ultimate Rock, Metal & Alternative club" which ran for 7 years as the largest and longest running rock and metal event in South Wales, evolved into it's own, full time venue in April of 2011.
Long history to this club. Started in the 80's, closed late 90's and reopened in 2003 by the current operators. The night relocated from its long running home, The Point (in Cardiff Bay) when it closed down in early 2009 and settled at the Millennium Music Hall.
In April 2011 they announced that they would be leaving the MMH and revealed that they had bought their own place. Bogiez reopened as a full time rock bar, live music venue and nightclub.
They have club nights on from Wednesday to Saturday. Rock quiznight on Tuesdays and loads of other stuff going on all the time. They open as a bar during the day with a dedicated rock and metal jukebox.
Many touring acts have already passed through their doors since they opened including 1349, Evile, Warbringer, Voodoo Glow Skulls, LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, Blackfoot and they are constantly announcing more all the time.
Open Tuesday to Sunday.
12pm til midnight on Tuesday
12pm til 2am on Wednesday and Thursday
12pm til 3am on Friday and Saturday
6pm til midnight on Sunday.
EXCELLENT selection of beer and a HUGE selection of whiskey, bourbon and spirits. Generally really good prices (beer from £1.50 a botte / Sometimes £2.00 a pint / Jagermeister from £1.50)
Definitely the ONLY dedicated rock and metal venue in Cardiff.

The original venue, on old Penarth Road had an amazing atmosphere and a friendly vibe; the new venue - a converted church, no less - has managed to capture that same atmosphere. I wish it could be bottled. It's the one place where you're guaranteed a good night. And I think that the fact that Bogiez has survived changing hands, the demolition of its original venue and a further move to a new one is testament to it's power to make each and every night simply amazing.
Prices are reasonable and the music is spot on: the DJs are fantastic and fully committed to catering to the desires, demands and whims of the crowd. Bogiez has a request-friendly policy; so basically the punters get to say what's played. There's a good mix of all rock and metal genres, old and new.
Additionally, there are regular promo give-aways and competitions, with prizes ranging from badges to Download tickets. For Halloween and other random occasions, fancy dress competitions are held. And I wouldn't spend New Year's Eve anywhere else! The venue is spacious yet has nooks to hide in and a truely 'Gothic' feel. Anything goes. It isn't a club for emo teens or has-beens; the full spectrum of ages make up the diverse clientele. You can wear what you like, do what you like...really and truely be yourself: you will be accepted.
Bogiez has been a big part of my life in one way or another for 11 years now and in the years that the original closed there was a big void - other clubs don't compare. It's a real shame that other clubs try to compete because Bogiez is in a league of its own. I've met some of my best friends there and could happily turn up on my own and still be in good company all night. There's not many places where a female could happily, and safely do that.
Further details can be found on the website: www.bogiez.com. Go on, check it out - it'll be the best night of your life! :D

Prices are never something to complain about, with usually a selection of two cans on offer at a pound a can, while stocks last.
(A little hint, when you get there, why not just by three or four cans to tide you over... Everyone there is of high enough moral value not to steal drinks off tables and then you wont have to worry about having to go back and forth to the bar or having to buy much else).
The music rocks. Simple as. There is always a large variety of music played, from different eras and so forth.
Staff are generally very friendly and incredibly tolerant of the masses of drunk people pestering them!
Even if you decide not to drink, it is still a fantastic night, with so many friendly people there. As long as you have the confidence to try and approach someone, or a group of people, you will not spend your time there alone...
And finally, who can forget the incredible amount of sexy people walking about. Wether you are already taken and just window shopping or are on the prowl, I am sure the eye candy would not dissapoint :P
Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Bogiez is on the 1st, 3rd and (when there is one) 5th Saturday of each and every month @ The Point, Mount Stuart Square in Cardiff Bay.
Opening times are 9pm til 3am.
See the website www.bogiez.com for full information (and to play on the awesome arcade there, which is an amazing timewaster whilst in work).
Just to let folk know: We're also open again this new years' eve. 9pm til 4am of good time rocking. See the site for full info.
Oh, and thank you all for your kind words and reviews on here (and to the lovely fella who told us about the listing). We aim to please and we're glad to hear that folk are enjoying themselves at our little corner of the Metaliverse.

The night itself is generally fantastic. The music stays varied (ranging from full-on metal through classic rock, modern rock, rap metal, goth and even the odd bit of Emo (don't get too concerned, they tend to play the best of the crop from my experience)) so you can always expect a good array of tracks throughout the night to get you dancing. The DJs are extremely knowledgable of pretty much anything (I requested black Stone Cherry before most had heard of them a few months back, the DJ entheusiastically agreed and it was on within 3 tracks) and open to requests.
Drinks prices are good, generally £2 a can but with some beers for £1. Most spirits are well priced too. Beware the cocktails though! As tempting as they are at £1.50 for half a pint they're dangerous!!!
Generally is very busy (I'm guessing about 500 capacity and it's usually pretty full) and a very friendly crowd. Could do with opening the second bar more often but that's a minor gripe.
Cardiff has other nights which just seem to spin the same old stuff (Fuel comes to mind, really nowhere near the quality of Bogiez, such a shame that's weekly and Bogiez isn't!) but Bogiez is a breath of fresh air.... still.
All hail the church of Rock.
