Batalion Music Pub/Hard Rock Café

Batalion is a nice and pretty big bar in the center of Prague, downtown, near the Wenceslas Square. The music program concentrates on the big names of hard rock (AC/DC, deep purple, black sabbath...) and heavy metal (meaning mostly NWoBHM). They have at least two huge screens where they play live DVDs with a really good sound (you can still talk, but you hear the music well) - if they play a DVD, then they don't play only one or two songs, but the whole DVD, according to my experience. Prices are ok, they have really good cocktails, and it's a good place to meet tourists with an interest in rock/metal. There is an internet section in the back and a club/dancefloor in the basement/cellar. It's next to the shop Krakatau, that sells low-quality rock and metal shirts. It also has a kind of gallery of professional photographs of rock and metal musicians. AND: it is opened non-stop!

brianwilliams82 I've lived in Prague for a year and have been in this place many times, and was shocked to find it listed here as a METAL bar! It's absolutely NOT a metal bar, guys! Please don't waste your time coming here if you're looking for metal, coz you won't find it. The place caters for large volumes of tourists (Pub Crawls go there, etc.) so metal is not on the agenda. The interior is cool, comic book theme as already said. It's actually an OK bar. But again, this place should not even be listed here, to be perfectly honest.
bumface on a saturday and tuesday night the supposed metal was starkly absent. they played alanis morrisette, coldplay, etc. upstairs and hip hop/pop downstairs. cool decor and rude staff.
bumface upstairs played alanis morrisette and coldplay, downstairs played hiphop. there was certainly no inkling of any metal or rock over the two nights i went (a saturday and a tuesday). the decor is cool and the walls are lined in comic book strips. staff are unfriendly.

bumface We went there twice while in Prague and both times there was no metal, or even rock playing. Upstairs was alanis morrisette etc. and downstairs was commercial pop and rnb. the drinks are expensive but the decor is pretty cool - painted a la comic book strips. packed with tourists!

Figueiredo It seemed not exactly a metal bar, but more of a rock café. Nevertheless it had a not bad ambience to start off the night.
Friendly staff.

BlackStone When I was there they had a rockabilly band playing. It was quite nice. Thay had this wonderful adult comic book interior thing, which I liked. The staff was unfriendly.

Shamane When I went there staff was not really nice, it was full of posers and they could easily play dance music or Lebanese pop right after listening some Helloween or Priest, which is a sacrilege... I serously doubt the Metal side of this place, it looks more like another Hard Rock Café copycat.
