I visited After Eight one night with two other guys that I met at Luna Hotel & Hostel. It's a little bit hard to find. You will see the old faded sign on the street, go down the narrow alleyway, step over the puddles and around the old boxes and trash, then knock on the door. It reminded me of a 50s noir film or detective novel.
At first the doorman said it was a bar for "couples only." but we told him to ask the manager if it was okay for us to sit at the bar and drink beer. They were cool with it. It's quite fancy inside with nice wallpaper and oak beams and furniture. Plenty of waiters and bartenders dressed very posh. It wasn't metal night at all when we were there. It's expensive by Egyptian standards, but still cheap compared to going to a similar place in a Western country.
An interesting bar to visit in downtown Cairo. And the Egyptian Stella and Sahara beers are tasty! The whiskey aint so great though!
This place is far better than going to Hard Rock Cafe or crap like that when you want a drink in downtown Cairo.
